Sometimes when you are debating with an atheist on the existence of God, they will change the discussion over to the social benefits of not believing in God. Not all atheists do this to be fair, but it does happen often enough that you should be on the lookout for it. The reason why is because this move commits the “red herring” fallacy, which is the fallacy of changing the subject.
